The Telangana government has plans to set up a Furniture Park to boost furniture manufacturing and allied industries. The cluster will come in about 100 acres on the outskirts of the city, said Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
Speaking at the first anniversary of Ikea stores here, he said the Telangana government has sought the Swedish furniture maker’s participation in the proposed Park.
"The Telangana government is setting up a dedicated industrial Park or Industrial Estate for furniture manufacturing, called Furniture Park, on the outskirts of
Hyderabad, spread over 100 acres,” he said.
“Government could allot space in the proposed Furniture Park to Ikea suppliers if they could bring in their suppliers in Europe or anywhere else and explain to them about the incentives and support offered by the Telangana government,” he said.
The official said four to five manufacturers have already evinced interest in setting up their units in the park. Ranjan asked Ikea to help promote products such as world renowned Nirmal paintings from Telangana in the global market.
