Chief Minister of Telangana State, Mr. KCR issued orders that Telugu would be a compulsory language from class I to XII and Urdu will be an optional subject. CM issued these orders to the officials at a meeting held at Pragati Bhavan on Tuesday.

He also told the officials to take necessary steps for teaching Telugu as a compulsory subject in all the Govt., aided and private schools. He opined that the trend to teach the

textbooks published by other publishers is not appropriate. Only the approved text books should be included in the syllabus.

He issued instructions to write the name boards in Telugu for all the Govt. and private institutions. If other languages are also included, it will be optional. It is reported that a resolution would be passed in the next meeting of the cabinet to approve the above decisions.
