The temperatures, which were hovering around 42 degree Celsius for more than a week, shot beyond 44 degree Celsius on Tuesday, a day when temperatures went beyond normal in many parts of the State as well.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Moula Ali clocked a temperature of 44.4 degree Celsius on Tuesday afternoon followed by Begumpet (42.3 degree Celsius), Srinagar Colony (42.3 degree Celsius) and Bahadurpura (42.1 degree Celsius). The harsh summer was not just confined to early afternoon, but beyond 5 pm as well.
On the other hand, the average temperature recorded in Hyderabad by the IMD was 42.2 degree Celsius, which was three degrees higher than the normal temperature for this time of the year.
Meanwhile, the heatwave conditions are expected to continue for at least another three days as dry and hot northwesterly winds from the inland have again started blowing over the region. Khammam recorded the season’s
hottest day temperature of 46 degrees Celsius, six degrees more than normal temperature.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a five-day heat wave warning from Tuesday to Saturday (May 11) for Telangana and also neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
Severe heat wave conditions affected normal life in both the States. Streets were deserted in many places as people preferred to remain indoors, especially during the afternoon, to escape the blazing sun.
Heat wave conditions will prevail in Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalle, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jangaon, Yadadri Bhongir, Warangal(Urban and Rural), Mahabubabad, Khammam, Nalgonda and Suryapet. Other districts are also expected to suffer under its influence.
The temperatures in most places of the State are above normal.
