A fire broke out at a tent house on the second floor of a building in Paratwada of Malakunta in Goshamahal on Sunday evening. There was panic for a while as it spread to an adjoining residential apartment, but there was no injury or casualty.
Officials said the fire started around 6.30 pm at Amar Tent House and spread to Nandini Residency, where the furniture in a residence on the second floor was gutted. The two buildings are five feet apart.
The tent house had plastic sheets, tyres, plywood and decorative material, which fed the blaze, and seven
workers escaped on noticing the fire.
"The fire entered our living room through the window of our balcony. Our beds, sofa sets, almirah and other furniture were gutted," said Rajkumar, an advocate, whose furniture was gutted.
"Three fire tenders from the Gowliguda and Nampally fire stations put out the fire within 45 minutes," said Praveen Kumar, station fire officer, Gowliguda.
Begum Bazaar police inspector N. Shankar said a case under Fire and Explosive Act was registered.
