Terror attack claims third life from Telangana

The death toll of victims from Telangana in the heart-wrenching New Zealand mosques firing climbed to three on Sunday with authorities confirming one more death.

Ozair Khadir, an aspiring pilot from Hyderabad, was killed in the Al Noor mosque on Friday when a 28-year-old shooter sprayed worshippers with bullets at two mosques in Christchurch — an incident that shook the world. Two others, Farhaj Ahsan of Tolichowki; and Imran Khan, a native of Karimnagar; were confirmed dead on Saturday.

 

Ozair was a student of an aviation college. On Sunday morning, reports of his death did the rounds after the Indian High Commission in New Zealand released a list late on Saturday night. A resident of Noor Khan Bazaar in old city, Ozair was studying in New Zealand for the last one year. He had three brothers — the elder brother, Umair Khadir, is a pilot working with a private airline



in India.

Meanwhile, the family of Farhaj Ahsan, an engineer from Hyderabad who was killed in the attack, was to leave for New Zealand on Sunday. Ahsan (31) is survived by his wife and two children – a three-year-old daughter and six-month-old son.

Another person from Karimnagar, Imran Khan, was also killed in the attack at the Al Noor mosque. His family lives in US and they reportedly reached New Zealand. His relatives in Karimnagar said they were not in touch with the Embassy officials and did not have much information. His father Mohammed Sayeeduddin said they will reach Christchurch mostly on Tuesday and decided to perform the burial there itself.

Meanwhile the family of Iqbal Jahangeer, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital after he was shot in the chest, left for New Zealand late on Saturday.
