Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (SPDCL) Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui on Friday said the staff restored the power supply in a record time replacing damaged electric poles and transformers overnight due to heavy rains that lashed the city on Thursday night.

A statement here said that due to heavy rainfall from Thursday

afternoon until yesterday midnight, trees and their branches fell on power lines, causing poles and transformers to collapse. This resulted in power interruptions in several areas. The alert staff worked tirelessly throughout the night until dawn, performing their duties without interruption.

In Greater Hyderabad, the rainfall affected 57 poles and 44 distribution transformers.
