With the monsoon taking a break, the day temperatures are likely to soar during the week. With nearly half the month gone, the rain has been below normal in August.

On Sunday, the mercury hit 38ºC in Nalgonda, 5ºC above normal. Temperatures are likely to soar above 35ºC in the districts of



Mancherial, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet and Nalgonda.

The IMD long-range forecast had said parts of the south peninsula would experience above-normal monthly maximum temperatures in August and the nights would be warmer.
