A day after unseasonal rain lashed parts of Telangana State, the Indian Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers in a few places of the State in the next three days. The rainfall was expected from Sunday till 8.30 am on January 30, according to officials.
On Saturday, the rain had lashed parts of the city. Meanwhile, the commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Dana Kishore, in a press release, ordered the officials concerned and their teams to be ready for the downpour likely in the next 48 hours.
Light to moderate rainfall was reported in some parts of the city such as Khairatabad, Bandlaguda and the Old
City.
The highest rainfall in the city was 54.7mm recorded at Shapurnagar in Malkajgiri on Sunday morning. The weather has remained cloudy in many parts of the state throughout the day.
Also, the Commissioner asked the officials concerned to make all the necessary arrangements to deal with emergencies, the release said here. "Everyone (officials) should be available, prepared to monitor the situation. Any lapse will be viewed seriously," the release quoted Kishore as saying.
Instructions were given also to clear the debris clogging the manholes and the silt that has accumulated in view of the rain on Saturday night, the release added.
