The Minister for Agriculture, Thummala Nageswar Rao on Tuesday wanted the Central government to ensure 100 per cent procurement of farmers’ produce (other than paddy) as part of the minimum support price operations.
At a review held with officials in the Secretariat, he directed the Agriculture Secretary to write to the Centre in this regard. He wanted
the cap on the procurement of farmers produce to go.
The agriculture Secretary said the State Government had advised the Agriculture Department to seek permission from the Central Government to purchase 100% of the produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), lifting the current limit of 25% on all crops except paddy
