Karimnagar: In an innovative way to celebrate Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s 68th birthday on Thursday, local TRS corporators distributed live chicken birds to residents of 25th and 16th divisions of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
Mayor Y Sunil Rao distributed the birds donated by Edla Saritha and Bonala Srikanth to the residents of the two wards they represent.
The corporators reasoned that it was a tradition in Telangana to offer chicken to the goddess during the biennial tribal fair Sammakka-Sarakka jatara, and similarly, they decided to distribute chicken to the poor on the occasion of the Chief Minister’s birthday.
Meanwhile, Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar, a doctor by profession, performed eye surgery on 21 persons from the
poorer sections free of cost in Jagtial.
MLAs, other public representatives, TRS leaders, and workers celebrated the Chief Minister’s birthday on a grand scale by cutting cake and distributing sweets across erstwhile Karimnagar district.
As part of the celebrations, Sunil Rao cut a 68 kg cake at Telangana Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, he said that all sections of society in the State were happy as various schemes were introduced for their welfare by the Chief Minister.
Chandrashekhar Rao instilled confidence among the public by introducing various welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Kalyanalaxmi, Shadhi Mubharak, pensions, 24 hours free power supply, farm loan waiver, KCR Kit, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and others, he said.
