Chief advisor Rajiv Sharma, chief secretary S K Joshi and assembly secretary Narasimha Chary called on governor ESL Narasimhan here on Tuesday.
According to Raj Bhavan sources, the timing of the polls figured in the meeting. This comes amidst speculation that the TRS government may dissolve the assembly, perhaps on September 6. The meeting of three top state government functionaries with the governor was preceded by Telangana chief electoral officer Rajat Kumar meeting chief secretary SK Joshi at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
Sources said the CEO met the CS to discuss arrangements to be made if the government dissolved the assembly. The status of revision of electoral rolls, EVMs required and requirement of staff in
case of early elections were discussed in the meeting.
Rajat Kumar downplayed the meeting. He said: “I met the CS to request him to sanction posts like additional CEO. We have a limited role.”
He said Telangana was behind the national schedule due to implementation of Rythu Bheema and sought one week time for preparing the draft rolls. Now the state is aligned with the national summary revision of electoral rolls schedule.
District election authorities have published the draft rolls on September 1. The EC has sought objections and suggestions from the people. The corrections can be made till November 1. The final rolls would be out in January first week.
