The Rachakonda Police will be now opening a traffic park for children.
The park, developed by the Rachakonda Police in collaboration with Honda Company, will help children to get a first-hand experience of traffic rules.
The child park is developed on a one-acre land parcel at the old camp office of the Rachakonda Commissioner at LB Nagar and provided all modern facilities to educate children on the traffic rules. Apart from 20 feet wide roads, there are traffic signals, a market, a school zone, hospital zone, petrol bunk, parking zone, bus shelters, unmanned railway crossing and zebra crossing that have been developed in the park.
To educate the children, a curriculum has been designed in collaboration with Transport
Department officials. “Initially, children below 15 years will be allowed to enter the park. They will get theoretical knowledge on traffic rules through short films and power point presentations,” a Traffic official said.
The children will also get practical knowledge and be allowed to ride bicycles on the roads in the park. Trained traffic personnel will guide them. The children will be taught basic traffic and safety rules like following traffic sign boards, park cycles at parking lots, measures to be taken at petrol bunks, school zones and hospitals. They will be also taught about fines if they violate traffic rules, the official said. The aim the park is to help children to move on roads without violating traffic norms and avoid accidents.
