Nalgonda: A fire broke out late Thursday night, burning trees spread across 30 acres in Velugumatla Urban Park in Khammam. Various species of trees grown in the park were also reduced to ashes in the veld fire. The fire, which originated from a bush set ablaze by a person in an agricultural field, quickly spread to the urban park, which spans 135 acres. After receiving the information, three fire fighting vehicles rushed to the urban park and brought the fire under control after three hours of efforts.

District Forest Officer Siddharth Vikram

Singh stated that a major fire broke out at the fringes of Velugumatla Urban Park in Khammam. “Upon receiving the alert, we immediately sought assistance from the Fire Department, Municipal authorities, Khammam Range staff, and local residents to help contain the damage,” he said. "The fire line played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading further, despite strong winds. A detailed inquiry will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken against those responsible for the incident," he added.
