TRS working president and Minister KT Rama Rao reiterated that his party will stand by the decision of TRS Parliamentary Party led by TRS secretary general K Keshava Rao to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He pointed out that the TRS had voted against the Bill in the Parliament as it categorically excludes Muslims in contrast to the spirit of the Constitution of India.
Responding to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here on Friday, Rama Rao asserted that TRS MPs
would have voted in favour, only if the Central government did not differentiate refugees on religion basis and included Muslim refugees for granting citizenship. “We have made our party’s decision very clear with regard to CAA. With regard to implementing National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens, the State government will take appropriate decision whenever the Centre sends it to the State,” he clarified.
