The process of filing of nomination papers for Huzurabad Assembly by-poll began on Friday, with the returning officer receiving three nominations.
While TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav filed two sets of nomination papers, Anna YSR party candidate Mohammed Mansoor Ali filed one set. Candidates submitted papers to returning officer and Huzurabad RDO Ravinder Reddy at his office. District election officer and Collector RV Karnan along with Election Expenditure Observer G Elamurugu examined the nomination filing process.
The Collector instructed the returning officer to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India while accepting nomination papers. Later, they
inspected a static surveillance check post set up between Warangal and Huzurabad. The check post was established on Warangal and Huzurabad main road.
The Collector instructed the static surveillance team members to check each and every vehicle passing through the check post. The surveillance team should be alert round the clock since there was a possibility of political parties and candidates trying to bring in money and liquor illegally, he sid.
Karnan, in a statement, said the model code of conduct will be in force only in Huzurabad Assembly constituency limits and will not be applicable to Karimnagar and Warangal Municipal Corporations.
