Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana State, Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali told that TRS Govt. is committed to provide 12% reservation to Muslims and every possible step would be taken for it. Mr. Mahmood Ali was responding to the discussions on the budget allocations for the Department of Minorities Welfare.

He further told that CM is serious on this issue. He mentioned that a bill was passed in TS Assembly and Council which was sent to Center.

Central Govt. is delaying the issue due to which TRS MPs are registering their protest in both the houses of Parliament. They are demanding to delegate powers to State Govt. for providing reservations.

Mr. Mahmood Ali pointed out that in 1994, minority budget was only Re. 1 crore. CM has raised it to Rs. 2000 crore. He also said that in other states, the population of minorities is more than TS but their budget is less.
