As a prelude to the TRS Plenary meeting in fourth week of April, party senior leaders today met at MP K Keshava Rao’s residence here. Keshava Rao had discussions with those who attended the meeting that focused on the issues to be taken up in the Plenary.

About 12 main issues were discussed in the meeting and they include Engineering Colleges, KG to PG program, feedback from people on welfare schemes and development programs. Besides the Engineering Colleges issue, the meeting threw light on the much hyped KG to PG scheme which invited wrath from political circles and a section of society for its remaining a non starter.

The meeting is learnt to have expressed concern on Engineering Colleges, quality of education, lack of faculty, facilities and results. It also focused on about 10 to 15 per cent of engineering graduates passing with ranks and getting jobs and the rest vying for low level jobs and some management’s reluctance to run the colleges further. Some of them are on the verge of collapse as there are no takers and some lack faculty and facilities. The meeting assumes significance as Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao himself gave a clarion call to the managements of engineering colleges to take a decision whether to roll out the best students with standards to cater to industry and companies’ needs or close them to start other business.
