Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) parliamentary party on Monday announced its party MPs will participate in a discussion on no-confidence motion against the NDA, if taken up by Parliament. The MPs won’t resort to slogan-shouting or rush to the well to press for a hike in quota percentage in Telangana.
“Our protest was democratic. But canards are being spread that TRS was not allowing tabling of no-confidence motion against NDA in the Lok Sabha by staging protests. This impression has to go. Let the notrust motion be taken up and we will speak on it raising our demands,” TRS parliamentary party leader K Keshava Rao said at Telangana Bhavan.
TRS leader in Lok Sabha A P Jitender Reddy said the party won’t disrupt functioning of the house, but will not give up on its demand for increasing reservation for dalits and
minorities.
The MPs said they had been advised by TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to change strategy and focus more on raising reservation percentage. “We met leaders of all political parties who sought details on our demands. We explained to them that if two states can provide more quota, Telangana too should be allowed,” said Karimnagar MP B Vinod Kumar.
Kumar said they met Union home minister Rajnath Singh and explained the state’s stand. “He said he will speak to his team, but he did not get back to us,” he said.
Nizamabad MP K Kavitha said states should put up a united fight against the Centre on key demands. “But it is sad some political parties are being critical of TRS when we supported the demand of AP MPs for special status,” she said.
