Telangana Rasthra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday extended full support to people of Andhra Pradesh over their demand for special category status (SCS) as well as the Polavaram project.
“We are not against the people of AP, but only against some individuals such as N Chandrababu Naidu who create problems,” KCR said at a public meeting in Vikarabad.
In a bid to send a clear message to the people of AP that TRS was not against them, he asked the crowd to respond to him a few times to indicate they had no problem with the people there.
“We want to develop and we want AP also to develop. AP also has the full support of Telangana and we have no opposition for the
Polavaram project. Our idea is that both sides should benefit,” he said.
KCR pointed out that TRS had in the past made its stance clear, both in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, that it was in favour of AP being granted SCS.
At the public meeting in Chevella Lok Sabha constituency, KCR declared open support for YSRC. He said with the 16 seats, which TRS was confident of winning in Telangana, and one MIM seat, they would support the demand of the people of AP for special category status.
“Along with the seats that YSRC will win in AP, with the total of 35 or 36 seats, we will strive for special status for AP,” he said. There are 25 Lok Sabha seats in AP.
