Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today attributed the statehood to Telangana to the foresight of Babasaheb Ambedkar, who penned country’s Constitution that paved the way for formation of smaller States in the country.

The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for a 125 ft tall Ambedkar Statue at Hill Rock area on the NTR Gardens premises here after laying foundation stone for construction of a Center for Dalit Studies at Borabanda area at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister asserted that the Telangana government was indebted to Ambedkar for his prudence to avoid skirmishes among leaders of the States with regard to formation of new states. A sky-kissing bronze statue of Ambedkar, which could be first of its kind in the World, will come up here next year on the same day. The statue will come behind Lord Buddha’s standing statue in the middle of Hussain Sagar lake.
