The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for a 125 ft tall Ambedkar Statue at Hill Rock area on the NTR Gardens premises here after laying foundation stone for construction of a Center for Dalit Studies at Borabanda area at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister asserted that the Telangana government was indebted to Ambedkar for his prudence to avoid skirmishes among leaders of the States with regard to formation of new states. A sky-kissing bronze statue of Ambedkar, which could be first of its kind in the World, will come up here next year on the same day. The statue will come behind Lord Buddha’s standing statue in the middle of Hussain Sagar lake.

for the cause of slim people and he (KCR) being slim, fought for and fetched
Telangana and the entire State is indebted to Dr Ambedkar, KCR stated. After a
debate, Ambedkar scripted the Indian Constitution giving complete rights to the
Centre to form new or small States. KCR showered praises on the Architect of
India saying that he was the son of soil and a great visionary, who strove for
his entire life for the cause of Dalits, STs, deprived classes, Minorities and
poor besides fighting against oppression.
“Telangana liberated and inhaling air of freedom due to Ambedkar’s efforts and the Constitution he wrote. The TRS Government will follow Ambedkar’s ideals to uplift these classes, who should get the fruits of development”, KCR averred. He also declared construction of a 15-storied Ambedkar Towers on the eastern side of Hussain Sagar for Ambedkar Studies at international level. The TRS government was committed for the welfare of these classes and constructing 2.60 lakh double bedroom houses and will take up land procurement program to continue to offer three acres to Dalits.
