Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation (TSCSC) has decided to set up petrol pumps in nine districts to boost its revenues.
These petrol pumps will be opened at Julurupadu (Kothagudem district), Aliabad (Shameerpet, Medchal district), Raghunathapalem (Khammam district), Hasnapur (Karimnagar district), Kismatpura (Rangareddy district, Atvelli (Shameerpet, Medchal district), Kandi (Sangareddy district), Korutla (Jagtial district) and Narsapur (Haveli Ghanpur, Medak district).
TSCSC chairman Sardar Ravinder Singh on Thursday said that the Corporation has decided to set up petrol pumps in nine districts in the first phase and ten more districts will be covered in the second phase.
Singh said that the Corporation has formed a committee with five officials to identify suitable land parcels and handover to oil marketing companies (HPCL, BPCL, IOCL) for setting up petrol pumps.
He said petrol pumps in Karimnagar, Rangareddy, Medchal and Sangareddy districts were allocated to IOCL, Kothagudem, Medchal and Khammam districts to HPCL
and Jagtial and Medak districts to the BPCL.
Oil marketing companies have been directed to speed up the process and make the petrol pumps available for the people as soon as possible.
The petrol pump run under the auspices of the Civil Supplies Corporation near Secretariat used to witness serpentine queues. People used to throng this petrol pump with a belief that there won't be any sort of fuel adulteration as it is run by the government.
However, the government recently shifted this petrol pump to Kavadiguda ahead of the inauguration of the new Secretariat on security grounds.
The Corporation now wants to build on this trust of customers by opening a few more petrol pumps across the state.
The Corporation currently has three petrol pumps and 11 LPG distribution agencies. It earns Rs 5 crore per annum through the sale of petrol and LPG cylinders. The corporation is aiming to earn Rs 20 crore by expanding petrol pumps and LPG distribution agencies to districts.
