The Education department set itself a mammoth target of planting 2 crore saplings under the fourth phase of Haritha Haaram. These saplings will be planted at government schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, residential schools, BEd and engineering colleges and universities across the State.
During a video conference with officials of Forest and Education department on Friday, Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari directed authorities to distribute 1 crore fruit-bearing
saplings to 40 lakh students so that they could plant them at their homes. He also directed officials to take up block plantations along compound walls of institutions.
To ensure survival of the saplings, instructions were issued to all managements to dig bore wells and deploy workers for watering the saplings. Srihari said schools in Kodakandla, Dandepally and Sangareddy became a role model because of the initiatives in Haritha Haram.
