Much to the delight of Chief
Minister, Collectors of the existing 10 districts prepared a Draft plan to increase
them to 26 while K Chandrasekhar Rao vouched for 24 or 25, according to
reliable sources.
The Draft plan prepared as per the Chief
Minister’s direction has gone through the lens of chief secretary Rajiv Sharma
here on Monday. The Chief Minister is likely to take a final call in a two-day
Collectors conference began on Monday.
The key
announcement about the number of districts, to come into place by Dasara
festival, is most likely
to be made by KCR on June 21 when the Collectors
conference concludes. During a high level review meeting with Collectors at
Secretariat here, the Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma discussed on the need for
reorganization of the districts for administrative ease and smooth governance.
On receiving the
reports of new districts from the Collectors the Chief Secretary reportedly
gave his nod with some changes followed by appeals, requests from various
sections of people and leaders irrespective of the party lines. According to
reports, there are protests by people, political parties and people
organizations on the issue at various districts and towns. The people mostly
are demanding the state government should desist from making an attempt to
include them in a far off district as their home district is nearby.
Consequently the new districts will be formed by Dasara along with
reorganization of mandals and divisions as per the directive of the Chief
Minister.
