TS transport unions to strike from October 1

Unions part of the Telangana State Motor Transport Vehicles Joint Action Committee, which includes operators of autorickshaws, taxis and trucks, will go on strike from October 1.

The JAC met road transport authorities on Saturday and handed over their strike notice. The JAC has demanded the transport welfare board give them



tax exemptions, increase in auto-metre readings and the implementation of the vahana mitra scheme.

Under the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government gives financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually to self-employed drivers of autos, taxis and maxi-cabs.
