Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has secured second rank among the 35 other Boards and Committees in the Country in ‘Performance Audit’ conducted by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
The ranking was awarded after a thorough audit conducted by an expert committee comprising of members from CPCB, Ministry of Environment and Forests, State PCBs, IIT, NIT, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and National Productivity Council (NPC). The TSPCB was awarded an overall score of 82.77 points placing it second among other State PCBs and stood national first in ‘Enforcement and Regulatory
Functions’.
The expert committee, set up by National Green Tribunal , had visited the State in the month of May and conducted performance audit of TSPCB in a host of parameters including ‘Environment Quality Monitoring’, ‘Enforcement and Regulatory Functions’ Data Management and Public Outreach’, ‘Advisory for Decision Making’ and ‘Research and Development and Training’.
Earlier this year, a bench of National Green Tribunal directed CPCB to conduct ‘Performance Audit’ of all the State PCBs and Pollution Control Committees to have a strong and effective regulatory regime.
