Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) in its quest for new avenues to generate income has decided to introduce 22-seater mini buses from Dasara festival for customised tours in Warangal and Nizamabad on a pilot basis.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, during his day-long meeting with the corporation officials in the month of June, had directed them to find out ways and means to increase revenue apart from improving passenger services. He wanted the officials to capitalise the pilgrim centres and tourist spots for generating revenues.
According to sources, the management has speeded up the tender process. The officials have decided to operate mini buses in remote
areas where no bus services were present, a senior official said. The corporation officials have taken the decision to set up a chartered division consisting of mini buses.
The officials are of the opinion that the mini buses would help the corporation in earning revenue and overcome losses. The officials would call for tenders in the first week of September and bring out the buses during Dasara festival.
The buses would be operated on Hyderabad-Warangal and Hyderabad- Nizamabad routes and would cover religious places in these two districts. Though the corporation runs mini buses in some parts of the city and Old City in particular, this would be totally a new phenomenon.
