HYDERABAD: Taskforce police arrested two persons for allegedly misappropriating the money collected for the treatment of ailing persons through crowdfunding method.

The accused are, Salman Khan, 29, president of Hyderabad Youth Courage (HYC) NGO, and Syed Ayub, 31, Organiser of HYC. According to police, the accused have been operating a Facebook page - Hyderabad Youth courage - and started posting videos of financially deprived people and those who need medical help, seeking financial assistance from people.

Facebook requesting individuals to give money related assistance to Yasmeen Sultana, who was experiencing constant affliction. In the video, the blamed referenced the ledger number for Yasmeen's relative Asra Begum for individuals to send their gifts.

"Within three days, donations of lakhs of rupees were deposited in the bank account of Asra and she transferred Rs15 lakh to Salman Khan's bank account and Rs 15 lakh into the account of Rashed, a relative of Syed Ayub. The balance amount which is about Rs 16 lakh, remained in Asra's account," Taskforce inspector S Raghavendra said.
