The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (ISACOG), which monitors the genomic sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 in the country has detected two cases of Delta Plus variant of the Covid virus in Telangana.
Overall, the INSACOG has reported 70 Delta Plus confirmed cases in the country out of which 23 were reported in Maharashtra, 10 in Tamil Nadu, 11 in Madhya Pradesh, four in Chandigarh, three each from Kerala and Karnataka, two each from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh and one cases each
from Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Jammu, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
In a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha on Friday, Union Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh said that overall INSACOG, which is a group of 28 laboratories across India, had sequenced 58,240 samples of SARS-CoV2 have been sequenced in the country and of these, 46,124 were genetically analysed.
