A two-day inception meeting of Startup20, the new engagement group of G-20 initiated by India, will begin later this morning in Hyderabad. Startup-20 has been mooted by India after assuming the G-20 presidency to serve as a forum for startups to create a global narrative for supporting startups and enabling synergies between various stakeholders of the ecosystem.
G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant informed that the primary objective of the engagement group is to harmonise the global startup ecosystem through a collaborative and forward-looking approach. Briefing the media in Hyderabad last night, along with Secretary to DPIIT Anurag Jain, Startup-20 India Chair Chintan Vaishnav, Mr Amitabh said, the Summit event will be held in July in Gurugram and meetings will be held in Sikkim, Andaman and Bengaluru before the
Summit.
He said, the group is expected to provide a common platform for startups from G-20 member countries to develop actionable guidance in the form of building capacities, identification of funding gaps, enhancement of employment opportunities, achievement of targets under Sustainable Development Goals and climate resilience and growth of an inclusive ecosystem.
The startup-20 is having three main task forces including foundations and alliances, finance, and inclusiveness and sustainability. Besides the G-20 countries, nine observing nations will participate in the inception meeting. About 80 overseas delegates and 100 from India, including incubators, startups, investors, and industry partners, among others, are expected to attend.
