Hyderabad: The recently concluded Assembly elections in 5 states have thrown up many surprises. Some powerful candidates have lost, some newbies have turned giant-slayers. Winning and losing are two given when polls are held.
But some candidates cannot stomach defeat with the same ease as they weather life's other uncertainties. Shockingly, two candidates (one of the K Chandrashekar Rao-led TRS and another from the Congress) have taken ill after learning o heir defeat.
Congress candidate Komatiedi Venkata Reddy was contesting from Nalgonda Assembly constituency. He was defeated by the TRS candidate by 8,633 votes. When he got to know about his rival's win, his blood pressure suddenly shot up. He was then admitted to the hospital where his condition is said ti be
stable.
On the other hand, former minister and TRS candidate T. Nageshwar also lost by 7,669 votes. He complained of chest pain after he learnt of his electoral loss and had to be rushed to the hospital
In the 2009 election, T. Nageshwar Khammam was elected from the electoral constituency. He contested this seat again in 2014 but lost. However, in the 2016 by-election, Nageshwar returned from the prior constituency on the TRS ticket. But this year they have to face defeat.
Meanwhile, in Telangana Assembly elections, voters again handed over the power of the state of Telangana to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi TRS leader K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) who himself won his Legislative Assembly seat with huge votes from the Gajwale constituency.
