Two powerful landmines were defused in Bhupalpally district today. As per the reports, the landmines were allegedly planted by Maoists below a road and it came to the notice of a police team during road-checking when they spotted a wire on the roadside.
The police team immediately alerted the bomb disposal
squad, who rushed to the spot and dug up the road. They found two aluminum buckets filled with 25 kgs of explosives and detonators at a depth of around 1.5 metres.
The squad later defused the landmines. According to the officials, the landmines were powerful enough to blow up a bus, if detonated.
