The Hyderabad Metro Rail is coming up with two skywalks at the MGBS Metro interchange Station.Apart from facilitating an easy and direct into the busstation from the Metro station for passengers, these facilities are also expected to ease traffic congestion on the ever-busy Gowliguda-Afzalgunj and Chaderghat roads.
The skywalks are designed as enclosed foot-over-bridges connecting the MGBS Metro interchange and the sprawling MGBS campus, which provide bus connectivity for passengers headed for inter-State and neighbouring State destinations.
While, one skywalk is being
constructed from Gowliguda end into the MGBS, the other is coming up at the Chaderghat end. HMR would be the first metro service in the country to be equipped with skywalks, said HMR Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy.
MGBS interchange station is going to be bigger than Ameerpet interchange station. “There is a need to ensure easy entry and exit passage for commuters into the metro station besides facilitating convenient and safe pedestrian crossing into the MGBS station. Hence, two skywalks are being constructed at both the ends of the interchange station,” he said.
