The Union government on Monday notified the transfers of Two Judges of Telangana High Court, Justice Mummaneni Sudheer Kumar to Madras High Court and Justice Chillakuru Sumalatha to Karnataka High Court. Following the approval to recommendations of Supreme Court Collegium by the President of India, the Union Ministry of Law has issued the Notification.
The Supreme Court Collegium on August 3 recommended these transfers and sent its proposals to Union government. However, the Union government after three months , has agreed with the Collegium’s proposals and forwarded to President Draupadhi Murmu for the
consent.
Actually, the collegium took a decision to transfer Justice Sumalatha, to the Gujarat High Court.
On August 5, Justice Sumalatha had requested the Collegium to either reconsider the proposal to transfer her, or consider transferring her to a High Court of a neighbouring state — Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka
The Collegium said her request to reconsider her transfer could not be accepted, but acceded to her request in regard to the place to which she is being transferred. It recommended that she be transferred to the High Court of Karnataka.
