Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing cities in South Asia in the last three years and people across the States in India turned Hyderabad into a mini-India, said Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Friday.
Speaking during the inauguration of the first edition of Bhagyanagar Literary Festival through virtual mode, he said the Bhagyanagar-based Telangana writers have a unique quality of highlighting oppression and fighting for justice, democracy and rights of the people. Telangana, which has a rich heritage, has great poets like Bammera Pothana and Palkurki Somnathudu, among others, he said.
According to Reddy, Indian
literature has always been people-centric, while India is known for its rich literature and tradition. It is the land of Vedas, Upanishads and Puranas and even today, the Vedas are considered sacred not merely because they have some spiritual message but they provide answers to problems of people at large.
The Vedas touch upon every aspect of human existence. The ancient Indian literature is simply mind-boggling. He called upon the organisers to encourage writers, who have tremendous knowledge and are unable to find sources for publication. The literary festival should provide a forum for writers to exhibit their talent.
