Justice Ashok Kumar Roopanwal (Retd.), the one-man Judicial Commission who is probing the suicide of the University of Hyderabad research scholar Rohith Chakravarti Vemula will be in the city between February 23 and 25.
Justice Roopanwal has the mandate to enquire into the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Rohith and fix responsibility for lapses if any. He will also review the existing grievance redressal mechanism for students at the University and suggest
improvements.
Justice Roopanwal will meet representatives of the students’ unions and the associations of teaching and non-teaching staff on February 23. On February 24, he will meet the chief proctor, chief warden and wardens, the dean of students’ welfare, officials of equal opportunity cell, SC/ST cell, students’ grievance cell and anti-ragging cell.
On February 25, he will meet the university VC P Appa Rao, acting VC M Periasamy, the registrar, finance officer and other stakeholders.
