In view of improper stoppage of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses in the middle of the road to pick up passengers, the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director V. C. Sajjanar has instructed drivers to stop buses only at bus stop kerbs.
The move comes in the wake of a series of complaints received from fellow road users.
“We received several complaints regarding TSRTC buses being stopped in the middle of the road leading to accidents. This kind of behavior on part of the drivers is dangerous for both the boarding and alighting passengers and road users as
well,” said Sajjanar.
He asked the regional managers to instruct the divisional and depot managers of their respective regions to organise gate meetings and to address all drivers and educate them on the need to follow traffic rules strictly and stop buses near the kerb of bus stops but not in the middle of the road.
He also said that the non-adherence to the traffic rules and stoppage would be viewed seriously and disciplinary action would be instructed against the erring drivers in addition to recovering the penalty imposed by the police personnel.
