The Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the 10th Urban Mobility India conference at the HICC on Saturday.
The three day international conference will discuss urban transport challenges and solutions. Addressing a press conference at the secretariat on Friday, Secretary, Municipal Administration, Navin Mittal along with Joint Secretary Urban Development, Government of India, Mukund Kumar Sinha said that intelligent, inclusive and sustainable mobility will be the theme of the conference.
Mittal said that initiatives and experiences of 86 cities including 36 foreign cities will be discussed at the conference. About 1,000 delegates including 150 experts from 25 foreign countries would discuss road safety,
transit oriented development and introduction of tram services in Hyderabad. Two special sessions for mayors and municipal councilors from five southern states would be convened as part of the conference.
Mukund Sinha said that Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao will address the inaugural session. Hyderabad was decided as the venue for the tenth UMI Conference and Expo by Venkaiah Naidu last year when he was the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation.
The conference is being organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of Telangana and CODATU, a French Transport Institute.
