A drone which was deployed for a survey being done for designing a digital master plan for development of Vikarabad caught fire after coming in contact with high tension wires on Tuesday.

According to the reports, the local revenue officials, along with the municipal officials and those from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs are conducting a survey by deploying big drones in the town.

On Tuesday, the officials deployed a drone for the purpose. The drone went up to a certain height and suddenly came down. It got entangled in the high tension wires and caught fire. The drone

then fell in the agriculture field.

The officials said the drone might have suffered a technical snag and lost control with the remote controller.

The union Ministry selected Vikarabad among other towns for creating a Geographical Information System (GIS)-based master plan under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0. The project is being partly funded by the Centre.

The survey is being taken up by Vikarabad district authorities along with municipal Survey of India officials.
