Chief Minister of Telangana Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday said Village Organisation Assistants (VOA) will be paid a monthly salary of Rs 5,000, clearing the long-standing demand of a hike sought by them.
VOAs represented their case to successive governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh but their pleas went
unheard. Giving them a patient hearing, Rao assured that all VOAs will be paid Rs 5,000 per month with the government’s share being Rs 3,000. The remaining Rs 2,000 will be borne by village committees. The government will pay its share from the Society for Elimination for Rural Poverty, Rao said.
