State Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem on Wednesday ordered sacking of seven employees who have been working illegally in various section of the board.
The chairman decided to discharge them from their duties, confirmed chief executive officer, Mannan Farooqui. Those sacked were relatives of existing permanent employees and working as daily wage earners for the last four years, he said.
Saleem convened an emergency meeting on other regular employees, including superintendents, surveyors, inspectors and office sub ordinates, and asked them to produce their original appointment letters along with education certificates before September 25. He called a meeting of the administrative committee on the same
day to decide the fate of those who got jobs without procedures and rules being followed.
The chairman said employees would be terminated on September 25, if they fail to produce relevant documents and the certificates and appointment orders.Though the board will hold a meeting on September 14 to discuss issues related to Wakf properties, recruitment issues too are likely to come up.
Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali had also called for a meeting with the Minority Affairs department officials to review the functioning of the board and other minority institutions.
“We will rectify the mistakes that were committed during previous governments,” he added.
