Warangal may soon get a monorail. To discuss plans in this regard, officials of Switzerland-based transportation company INTAMIN visited Warangal on Thursday.
Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation mayor N Narendar and deputy mayor Sirazuddin accompanied the firm’s heads Franz Zurcher and Gerard Slenders.Officials said the project covering about 12 km will connect Kazipet and Warangal railway stations. IT minister K T Rama Rao invited the Swiss company for the
project after he visited Switzerland last month.
Global spectrum CEO Suniti Varma said the project will be completed in 14 months after an MoU with Telangana government. There is no need to demolish constructions or chop trees for pillars, Varma said. “It would take 18 minutes to travel from Kazipet to Warangal,” said an official. He also said the company is planning to start four trains and five or seven stops for the passengers initially.
