The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has come up with a 10-day long awareness programme commencing from September 9.
The awareness programme will involve interactions with different levels of sewer staff and their family members on health problems caused by manual scavenging; how the latest technology brought in by the Board can eliminate the intensity.
The campaign will begin with a half-day awareness programme at which the Chief General Managers (CMG) and General
Managers (GM) of the engineering department and officials from various divisions of Water Board would address sewerage staff, including contractors’ sewer staff and outsourcing staff.
The CGMs and GMs of various divisions will re-circulate the previous instructions regarding safety measures in case of manual cleaning of sewers, safety kit utilisation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for manhole cleaning during sewerage over flow (SOF). This campaign will be held on 9th, 11thand 12th September.
