Warangal Urban: Minister for Health and Family Welfare Eatala Rajender said that water to SRSP canals should be released from the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) around July 15 to fill all the tanks under SRSP Stage I and Stage II. He also directed the officials to ensure proper distribution of water to the canals.

Rajender, along with Ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod and Government Chief Whip Vinay Bhaskar held a review meeting on release of water from the LMD for this Vaanakalam season in Warangal on Wednesday.

Addressing the officials, he said that water should reach the tail-end areas and it should irrigate the second

crop too since the tanks would be filled. Jagadish Reddy said that Suryapet district would benefit from SRSP water. Dayakar Rao said that Kaleshwaram project water was being supplied through the SRSP canals.

“Each drop of water should be utilised. There should not be any wastage of water. A total of 1,677 tanks in seven districts would be filled to irrigate 12 lakh acres,” he said, adding that canal repair works can be completed through the MGNREGS.

Rythu Bandhu Samithi State president Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, MPs Banda Prakash, P Dayakar, MLC Kadiam Srihari and others attended the meeting.
