Hyderabad has undergone such a sea change in the last nine and a half years that is now being compared with cities like New York but the BJP and Congress parties are blind to the development the city has witnessed under the BRS government led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has said.

He said that there was a time when power supply was sporadic and drinking water used to be supplied once in 14 days in the city.

"Today, Hyderabad is taking one step at a time to get transformed and be ranked as one of the best cities in the world. Gone are the days of communal riots. There never were curfew days after the BRS government came to power. We are concentrating on infrastructure to make the city even better," he said.

Rama Rao was addressing a meeting at Telangana Bhavan where BJP leaders from Khairatabad led by Goverdhan and Himayatnagar corporator

Mahalakshmi joined the ruling party.

Superstars like Rajnikant and Sunny Deol have compared Hyderabad to New York. Even Gangavva (YouTube star) has said Hyderabad is better than Dubai. But folks from Congress and BJP are blind to this, he said.

Listing out some of the highlights of the city, Rama Rao said that Hussainsagar lake and its environs now look anew with Ambedkar statue, the new Secretariat, and the Martyrs Memorial. Khairatabad has become a great constituency; roads have become better while parks and nalas are being improved.

Rama Rao also mentioned other notable additions to the city, including the police command and control centre. He said that when traveling between Jubilee Hills and Gachibowli, one wonders if they are in Hyderabad or New York, as Rajnikant has said, adding that Sunny Deol is keen on buying a house in the city.
