Telangana government wants to develop Hyderabad in a way that it competes with the best cities globally and it doesn’t intend to benchmark itself along with other cities within the country. There will be focus on roads, power, water, education, health and civic amenities, bringing in the all-round growth.
Addressing the gathering at Tech Mahindra’s MI-18 2017 annual innovation day in Hyderabad on Thursday, Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said, “We want to bring truly world-class infrastructure in Hyderabad. In the next 5-7 years, large infrastructure development will take place.”
The State is keen to use technology for societal benefit. It has identified education and health as the two main pillars. T-SAT, in association with Telangana State Council of Higher Education and Telangana Academy for Skill
and Knowledge and Digital Media, has already embarked on project, as part of which, awareness would be created on Central government jobs for unemployed youth in the State besides training them for competitive examinations.
The government is also initiating Basthi Dawakhanas which will take off from January next year. The State is tying up with Microsoft for this to leverage the cloud.
The government is making all efforts to ensure round-the-clock power supply in the State so that it also benefits farmers. Power infrastructure is being revamped in Hyderabad so that there are disruptions. We are aiming for 100 per cent reliable power. To ensure adequate water supply, two tanks of 10 tmc capacity are being built.”
In Hyderabad, there are plans to develop four townships around the 160-km outer ring road.
