It may be mentioned here that on Monday too a no-confidence motion moved by the YSR Congress Party against the Chandrababu Naidu government was rejected. Today’s motion against the Speaker also met the same fate in the AP Assembly. With these, the dreams of the YSRCP supremo have dashed to the ground. Jaganmohan Reddy reportedly moved the No-trust-motion against the Speaker with a calculated move to cause disqualification of eight members, who were elected on YSRCP ticket in 2014 Assembly elections crossed over to the ruling party recently. With the defeat of both the no-confidence motions against the government and the Speaker, the YSRCP chief’s dreams shattered.
During the discussion on motion against the Speaker, BJP member Vishnukumar Raju said the motion against the presiding officer of the House was unfortunate in a democracy. Stating that Speaker Sivaprasada Rao had done many good things, Vishnukumar Raju said the no-confidence motion against the Speaker pained him very much.
AP Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said it was not proper
to level baseless allegations against the Speaker which was against the
traditions. Referring to the allegation of the YSR Congress Party, which moved
a no-confidence motion against the Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Yanamala
said it has become a habit for the Leader of the Opposition to give notices and
retract. The YSRCP MLAs have lost confidence in their leader, he said. Jagan,
who talks about norms and rules has again failed to affix his signature on the
notice given against the Speaker, the Legislative Affairs Minister pointed out
and demanded an explanation from the latter on this.

not sign on the notice given against the State government.
Earlier, Jagan said, as per the norms, the discussion should take place on the motion only after 14 days as the time was meant for issuing a whip to the members. He also alleged that ruling party was trying to protect eight of his MLAs, who joined the TDP. Meanwhile, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said he should not be in the chair when a notice of no-confidence was moved against him. Hence, he vacated the seat and Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddhaprasad occupied the chair.
Initiating discussion on no-confidence motion against the Speaker, YSRCP member Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy alleged that the ruling party members were using objectionable language in the House and were also threatening the Opposition members. He said no-confidence motion was moved against the Speaker because YSRCP member R K Roja has been suspended from the House from a year illegally and undemocratically. The Speaker was unable to point mistakes committed by the ruling party members. The Speaker was also violating norms of the House. Hence the no-confidence motion, YSRCP member said.
TDP member Goutu Shyam Sunder Shivaji said the Assembly Speaker post has sanctity. Rejecting charges made by the Opposition on partisan behavior of the Speaker, Shivaji said the Speaker was giving equal importance to all the members in the House and such allegation was unwarranted.
YSRCP member Gopireddy Srinvias Reddy, ministers Palle Raghunath Reddy and Kamineni Srinivas also participated in the discussion.
Another minister Achennaidu said the Speaker was giving utmost respect to the Opposition members in the House. There was no comparison between the suspension of YSRCP member Roja from the House and no-confidence motion moved against the Speaker, he said. There should be a concrete ground for moving such motion against the Speaker of the Assembly, the minister observed.
