In Spain, 10 people were killed and two others are critically injured after a blaze at a nursing home near the northeastern city of Zaragoza this morning. The fire broke out in the early hours, and smoke spread throughout the establishment in the small town of Villafranca de Ebro.
Local authorities
said the victims likely died of smoke inhalation. It also said that 82 residents and two staff members were in the building at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire at the nursing home, which serves people with dementia and other mental health problems, is unknown.
