A total of 1,374 unmanned aerial vehicles have flown simultaneously in the sky above the ancient Chinese city of Xi'an, setting a new Guinness World Record in the process.
The previous world record was set by Intel, who flew 1,218 drones during the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The dazzling light show was performed over the City Wall, which is one of the largest and oldest of its kind still standing in the country, on Tuesday night, The Paper reports.
The massive drones formed various patterns to illustrate the city's features and history, including the Wild Goose Pagoda, pomegranate flowers and camels

on the Silk Road, as well as numbers such as 1374 - the circumference of the city wall, which stands at 13.74 kilometres.
While in the air, each drone was able to communicate with the others and make them aware of its exact location, meaning there was no danger of any mid-air collisions, the event organiser said, noting that all the drones were under the command and control of just one computer.
Xi'an, located in northwest China, was the capital city for several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Qin, Western Han and Tang. It was also the starting point of the Silk Road and home to Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Terracotta Army.
