At least 17 people were killed and eight wounded in a provisional toll from an attack on a restaurant in Burkina Faso's capital, Ouagadougou, last night. Communications Minister Remi Dandjinou told a news conference,that Gunmen attacked the Aziz Istanbul restaurant late on Sunday and security forces were deployed to try to end the
attack.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility and it was not known whether there were any casualties. Burkina Faso, a landlocked nation in West Africa, is one of the poorest countries in the world. It shares a northern border with Mali, which has long battled Islamic extremists.
