Las Vegas: At least two people reportedly died in a stabbing incident on the Las Vegas Strip in the United States on Thursday morning. Meanwhile, six others were also injured in the attack. The incident took place at around 11:40 am local time near the Wynn hotel and casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrested one person in connection with the stabbing attack. The suspect was reportedly taken into custody in front of a resort, The Venetian. Injured have been shifted to area hospitals. The identity of the suspect is yet to ascertained. The motive of the crime is also not known.
One of the victims died on the spot, while the second victim succumbed to injuries during treatment at the University
Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Some of the victims are tourists. The suspect was taken into custody with the help of a security guard.
As per James LaRochelle of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the attacker used a large knife with a long blade. "The initial stabbing occurs on the sidewalk area and appears unprovoked," LaRochelle said as quoted by media. Three victims are reportedly in critical condition.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene southbound before heading eastbound on Sands Avenue, reported Los Angeles Times. The police also recovered the knife from the crime scene. The accused was reportedly in his 30s. The entire area was cordoned off after the incident. An investigation has been launched into the matter.
